[Membroj] geocities gone

Last night I received a notice from an Esperantist warning of the
imminent closing of Yahoo's geocities site. I saved as much Esperanto
and other material (for which I had links) as I could before I
finally had to go to sleep. Among the material I downloaded was the
60 or so chapters of Lanti's letters as well as a whole lot of
material on sennaciismo; an English-Esperanto site providing photos
and biographies of a half dozen major Esperanto literary figures,
some poetry, interlinguistics material, et al.

It is possible that others, including the site owners, saved their
material and have or will put it up elsewhere. There's also a chance
that archive.org, which also provides the wayback machine, has
conserved some if not all of the geocities sites. I think it takes
several months before old stuff gets archived.

In any case, when time permits I will search the web to see if the
disappeared material of interest to me has reappeared elsewhere. If
not, I'll put this stuff up on my site.

For those of you interested in interlinguistics, part of this site is
still functional:

International Auxiliary Languages
http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Forum/5037/index.html

I downloaded most of the material in the first section, but I didn't
have time to download whole books as a rule, because each chapter has
a separate web page. Similarly, I didn't have time to download whole
subsections which in turn link to a host of pages. Some have
disappeared, but some remain. I think the Ido and one of the Novial
sections are still there. Other sections and related geocities sites
are gone, though. Have at what's left, information scavengers.
