My name is Rodrigo Trevino and I work at the University of Maryland's Language House. The Language House houses our immersion program where undergraduate students who wish to greatly improve their skills at a foreign language live together to practice that language at all times. Moreover, they live with a mentor who is a native speaker and who is able to help them out with their language questions. We currently have a total of 10 languages as part of our immersion program.<br>

Every Monday, from 4:00 - 5:30, we also host a International Coffee Chat hour, where people from all over our campus come to practice any of 14 languages we have (the 10 languages which we do for our immersion program plus 4 more). We thought it may be fun to have Esperanto as a "guest language" one week. More specifically, we can set aside a few tables for Esperanto during our Coffee Chat hour, and invite representatives from the Esperanto Society of Washington to moderate those tables. Of course, since most people will not be fluent in Esperanto, it will be mostly an opportunity to share the history of Esperanto, its grammatical structure, and hopefully some vocabulary. We hope to advertise the guest language around campus to get everyone excited (and curious) about Esperanto.<br>

We hope you would be interested in this. If so, please let us know which Monday this semester would work best for you. If Monday is a bad day, perhaps we can do something else on another day, but we think it would be best to have Esperanto as our guest language during our International Coffee Chat hour.
